This Privacy Policy describes how My Wine Travels (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you use our mobile application, website, and services (collectively, the “Services”).

Information we collect

Information you provide to us

We collect information you provide directly to us when you create an account, complete your profile, use our interactive features, sign up for emails, or otherwise communicate with us. This information may include:

• Name, email address, and other contact information
• Username and password
• Profile information, including your wine preferences and taste profile
• Payment information when you make purchases
• Content you submit, such as reviews, ratings, comments, and event suggestions
• Any other information you choose to provide

Recommendations on the website

When you ask for a written recommendation on mywinetravels.ai, we store:

• The description of your ideal winery experience that you typed, and the recommendation we wrote for it
• A random visitor ID created by your browser, so we can show your recommendations again and count how many you’ve used
• The IP address the request came from, which we use only to apply the free-recommendation limit fairly

Your description is also saved in your own browser (local storage) so you don’t have to type it again. You can clear it at any time by clearing the box or your browser’s site data. To write recommendations we send your description and the event listing to our AI provider, which processes them on our behalf.

Email signups

When you sign up for “My Wine Travels events,” ask to hear when we launch in a region or on Android, or confirm your email to unlock unlimited recommendations, we store your email address, where you signed up, the exact wording of any box you ticked and when, and anything else you chose to share in that form (such as interests, the region you’re interested in, or where you travel from). If you’ve written a description of your ideal winery experience on the site, we store the latest one with your signup so we can make our emails more relevant. We send email through our email service provider, Loops, which stores your address and subscription status on our behalf. Every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe link.

Work with us requests

When you send a request through our Work with us page, we store what you entered (your email address and, if you added them, your name, organization, website and message), which option you picked, the page and campaign link you came from, and your browser’s random visitor ID. We use it only to reply to you and to understand which partnerships people ask about. It doesn’t add you to any mailing list.

Information we collect automatically

When you use our Services, we automatically collect certain information, including:

• Device information: such as your hardware model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
• Usage information: about your interactions with our Services, such as the features you use, the time and duration of your visits, and the pages you view. On the website we use Vercel Web Analytics and PostHog to count page views and actions (for example, when a recommendation is shown, an App Store button is tapped or a winery’s event link is followed) and to see which sites and campaigns brought visitors to us. Neither uses cookies. PostHog keeps a random visitor ID in your browser’s local storage, the same ID we use to count your free recommendations. We don’t send your email address or the description you write to either service. To turn website analytics off in your browser, open mywinetravels.ai/?analytics=off.
• Location information: with your consent, we may collect precise location information from your device to provide location-based services, such as finding nearby wineries.

How we use your information

• Provide, maintain, and improve our Services
• Create and update your account and send you related information
• Personalize your experience, including through our AI-powered recommendations
• Send the emails you asked for, and apply the free-recommendation limits
• Respond to your comments, questions, and requests
• Send you technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support messages
• Communicate with you about products, services, offers, promotions, and events, and provide other news or information about us and our partners
• Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities in connection with our Services
• Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and other illegal activities
• Comply with legal obligations

How we share your information

• With service providers: vendors who need access to information to carry out work on our behalf, such as hosting, analytics, AI processing, and email delivery.
• With partners: with your consent, we may share your information with wineries and other partners to facilitate reservations, special offers, or experiences.
• For legal reasons: if we believe disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or governmental requests.
• In connection with a transfer of business: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of business assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We never sell your email address.

Data retention

We store the information we collect for as long as necessary for the purposes for which we collected it, or for other legitimate business purposes, including to meet our legal, regulatory, or other compliance obligations.

Your rights and choices

• Account information: you may update, correct, or delete your account information at any time in the app or by contacting us.
• Emails: unsubscribe from any marketing email with the link at the bottom, or write to us to have your signup deleted.
• Location information: you can stop location collection in your device settings.
• Browser storage: clearing your browser’s site data removes your saved description and visitor ID from that browser.

Data security

We take reasonable measures to help protect information about you from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.

Children’s privacy

Our Services are not directed to people under 21, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21. If we learn we have collected personal information from someone under 21, we will delete it.

International data transfers

We are based in the United States and the information we collect is governed by U.S. law. If you use our Services from outside the United States, information collected through our Services may be transferred to, processed, stored, and used in the United States.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through our Services before the changes take effect.
